- best new addition to the boston (ok, stoneham) brunch scene: baja fresh
- best pizza (foreign): the shrimp, arugula, and cherry tomato pizza at le tre sorelle, positano, italy
- best pizza (domestic): (tie) the shaved bottarga and fennel seed pizza at Otto, NYC. and the cheese pizza, well-done, at pizzeria regina, north end, boston
- best sandwich: olive tapenade, tomato, arugula, goat cheese, pressed, at 94 fayerweather
- best bread: sel de la terre baguettes
- easiest way to blow tons of cash on cheese: formaggio kitchen
- best gelatto (foreign): nutella gelatto, positano, italy
- best gelatto (domestic): olive oil and sea salt gelatto at Otto, NYC
- best thai food ever: dok bua
- best party: (tie) our wedding, drew and kate’s wedding
- best album: coldplay, rush of blood to the head

- best book: (tie) everybody poops, the gas we pass

- best reality tv show: newlyweds
- best way to have a really busy year: getting engaged, moving, and getting married within a 9 month span
- trend of the year: lots and lots and lots and lots of weddings. please make them stop
- best diet: proscuitto, cheese, nutella and bread for breakfast, walk around for an hour, pizza for lunch, walk around for another hour, nap for 3 hours, wake up, eat pasta and seafood for dinner. and drink a lot of wine.

- central kitchen. especially the fact that at the bottom of the menu, the chef/owner appologizes for the increase in prices.

- we’re not addicted to tivo. yet. although i wake up in the middle of the night, see the red light on, and wonder what it’s recording.

- after-christmas sales
- food disappointments of the week: both dok bua and nashoba brook bakery were closed when we tried to go there. shouldn’t some one call us to warn us of these things? we’re just not destined to ever eat the curry chicken salad sandwich again.
- jon’s annual italian feast
- susanne’s realization that all of the carpenter boys, and every 20-30 year old man who grew up in the boston area have a strange obsession with larry bird
- finally figuring out my email problems.
- my new cookbooks: babbo, a signed happy days, and boy meets grill

- chanukah and christmas. double the gifts, double the food, double the fun!
- the events of the worcester academy holiday party that i’m desperately trying to forget
- tivo!. another carpenter household is under the spell.
- daveg and lisa’s wedding
- the islington barber shop. the 3rd different place i’ve gotten my hair cut in the last 6 months. conclusion: you can’t really screw up my hair.
- i now own a paul smith shirt and tie. now i just need the suit. (just a reminder that my birthday is only 4 months away)
- felafel from sepal
- we’ve got new years plans
- our final planned trip to NY for the forseeable future. maybe we’ll actually make it down there without any sort of wedding related obligations
- we’re completely done with holiday shopping.
- waffles from scratch
- the wedding singer at daveg’s wedding that could sound exactly like sting, elton john, and billy joel
- susanne finally got her itrip in the mail.
- 6 weddings down. 2 to go
- after all of our practice and effort, the worcester academy bake-off didn’t even announce a winner. but we all know that they extra layer of hershey bars on the botton of the bombe assured our victory. and the maintainance guys liked it too.

- the first ever carpenter family christmas tree

- the chocolate bombe. we are not taking the worcester academy bake-off lightly. they won’t know what hit them.

- almost causing a revolt at williams-sonoma
- the carpenter family chanukah celebration. and the best turkey harriet has ever made
- finding a giant jar of change in my bedroom at home. coinstar, here i come.
- we’ve changed gyms once again. my 4th boston sports club in 5 years. the 3rd in the past 6 months. bye bye central square. i think the only thing i’ll miss is the indian store and the Gap.
- we’re becoming more suburban by the minute. it’s a little scary

- there is nothing good about snow anymore. i don’t ski, don’t play in the snow, i don’t think it’s “pretty” to look at, we now have to shovel, and our cars gets buried under 2 feet of snow. it’s just a mess.
- i’m excited to be living somewhere warm next winter.

- jon and carolyn’s tivo remote is working again. i guess that’s what new batteries will do. too bad they had to wait a week for a new remote to figure it out.
- comcast is going to start bundling tivo-like services with their cable boxes
