- dan and i completing the boston marathon in 4 hours
- randomly running into John (who sleptwalked the night before, fell down, and cut his face up, and still managed to finish in 3:03) before and after the race
- having the presence of mind to bring gloves to wea
- the guys dressed like the globetrotters who somehow beat us even though they were dribbling and passing a basketball the entire race
- managing to beat the guy who was carrying a tuba and the guy dressed like a rhino
- the lovely women of wellesley college, and the easiest quarter mile i’ll ever run
- the powergel bonanza at mile 17
- passing hundreds of other runners going up heartbreak hill
- running the last 6 miles faster than any other 6
- sprinting the last 2 in complete and utter pain
- the indescribeable feeling of turning onto boylston st. and seeing the finish line
- the irony of actually having the presence of mind to look for my family on the top floor of jon’s office, seeing them, them spotting me, them taking pictures of dan and i triumphantly completing the last 100 yards, and the camera running out of film. hey, at least they got pictures of the globetrotter guys.
- and yes, making saxe jealous
- “i did it for all of the free stuff.”
- a new level of shamelessness when it comes to urinating in public
